Restaurant Review: The Burger Joint

Do you live in Bristol or ever visit?! Get yourself here, like right now!!! This little discovery was an accidental find, you know the kind of day where you are absolutely starving but have no idea what you fancy - I was having one of those. I saw the little door to this restaurant down some steps kind of out of the way but thought it was worth a try. I had recently had my first experience at Gourmet Burger kitchen and was kind of underwhelmed so I needed this place to make up for it. And ohhh my god it did. I had a humongous burger which consisted of the juiciest burger, bacon, egg and avocado with some sweet potato fries just for good measure.

I would highly recommend this place if you're ever in the area.

The burger joint can be found at;

Outfit: I'm on a boat

... okay maybe not as glam as you're thinking, more Rosie and Jim than exclusive yacht but I love it. While away the other week I took a few outfit pictures, well my brother kindly obliged. I got this top from Topshop a while back but the sun was shining so it finally made an appearance, yeah I seem to have an obsession with plain tops lately. I got the necklace from Topshop too and thought this made the outfit a bit more exciting. The blazer is from H&M, the brogues are from Topshop and the hat I got off eBay.

Restaurant Review: Lowry And Baker

I've found a little cafe on Portobello Road and i'm kind of in love with it. Lowry and Baker can be found at number 339. It's the kind of cafe that fills up each Saturday morning and you're lucky to get a table, it fits about 15 people (maybe a few more) and you see everything being cooked right behind the counter. They serve the most amazing coffee from Monmouth Coffee which is a company based in Bermondsey offering the finest quality fresh coffee, they also have a website. I went for the avocado, egg and salmon on brown bread which was delicious, next time I think i'll give the pancakes a try.

Highly recommend this lovely little place if you're ever in the area.

A Southbank kind of day

A few weekends ago I spent the morning at the light show at the Hayward Gallery, Southbank centre. I got my brother to take a few pictures of what I was wearing, quite a simple outfit. The blazer I got off eBay for 99p but was originally from H&M. The top is one of my 'back to basics' tops from ASOS you can get it here. The trousers were also an eBay bargain I think I paid around £4 and the trainers are Superga bought from ASOS.

Blazer - H&M
Top - ASOS
Trousers - Topshop
Bag - Zara
Scarf - Topshop
Trainers - Superga

Back To Basics

I recently graduated university, what has this got to do with anything I hear you ponder. Well basically it means I have no money even with a job, which for a girl who loves to shop makes things tricky. So while trying to save to move out and move away I am trying to live on a budget. My number one way of doing this is to buy basics, in the month of April all I bought were basics which for me is a miracle and also one of the reasons there were a lack of outfit posts. There's a quote that constantly rings in my head when talking about simplicity, 'simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistication.' While in university one of my best friends did a project to highlight over consumption of fashion whereby she didn't shop for the entirety of our final project in university (169 days!!!). For me to talk about this is very ironic as I am an avid shopper but it highlights everything I wish I could do. Her style was simple and sophisticated which meant she could dress beautifully every single day just by sort of getting by wearing basics it also teaches you to look in your wardrobe and appreciate what you already have. Plain white tees, shirts, black baggy tees, plain dresses. Simple is classic. Team a simple tee with a pair of baggy jeans, jazz it up with a pair of sunglasses. Wear a simple black tee with a pair of floral trousers to create a statement. Plain items are the key to every wardrobe, they are the fundamental items that make dressing easy. You will notice from now on a lot of my outfits will consist of plain white tees or 'wardrobe essentials'.

On my last payday I took a trip to Oxford Street where I stocked up on basics, a few COS plain tees, 2 american apparel oversized tees and a black and white tee from ASOS. These sort of items can be worn with anything, if you think you're looking to simple throw on a bright red lippy. These items will never date or go out of fashion they are actual wardrobe essentials.

Here is Polly's blog where she documented her 169 days of no shopping. She also has a website here which looks at how we consume clothes and the attitudes towards fashion consumption.

Hope you're all having a lovely Bank Holiday Monday! x

Outfit: The Peplum

Now I must point out I took these pictures a few weeks back and since then the walls have been painted and are now a lovely fresh white colour, less of the green.

I know I have been pretty MIA lately, I seem to have lost my enthusiasm and have got really lazy - that being said I am going to make an effort to get back into this whole blogging malarky. I absolutely love posting on my little blog but sometimes you can't help but feel it takes a lot of time for not much reward. I know I am not alone in this and everyone loses motivation sometimes, not just in blogging life but day to day life too. Enough of the life story I know why you're really here ;)

The below outfit is my day to night look. The bottom picture I am wearing my Zara boots which thinking about it may be a little to warm to wear now. The sandals are the famous Primark bargains which I think create a day to night look really easily. The peplum top is from Zara and is a lovely thick embroidered fabric.

Hope everyone is having a lovely Saturday, bank holiday weekend and the sun is shining yipeee!! xo
